Research background

MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded by a short open reading frame in the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. The 2015 paper that first characterised it reported AMPK activation in cell models and measured insulin sensitivity and metabolic markers in mice (Lee et al., Cell Metabolism 2015).
